SPCA steps in to remove five animals from ‘dog-throwing’ woman

Tshwane SPCA recently removed five animals from a property in East Lynne after a woman was caught on camera allegedly abusing two dogs.

In the video, the woman can be seen grabbing a small brown dog and smashing it against the wall while seemingly wanting to throw it outside, Pretoria Rekord reports.

She then proceeds to slap a black dog sitting on a couch next to her.

Tshwane SPCA general manager Dewald Wahlstrand said the community reported the animal cruelty video which was circulating on several social media groups.

“Our inspectorate attended to the complaint on Monday this week. A written warning was issued and the animals in the video were removed by the Tshwane SPCA.”

Wahlstrand said at a follow-up investigation at the property, all remaining animals were also removed.

He said the investigation is ongoing.

“We are extremely grateful to the public for caring about the welfare of these animals. It is heart-warming to see the overwhelming response and requests for assistance,” Wahlstrand said.

He said the animals were in good health at the SPCA.
