Body of young man discovered in Potch farm murder

Police are investigating a case of murder, and no arrests have been made.


The police discovered the body of a man on a farm on the Noupoort road outside of Potchefstroom last Monday, reports Potchefstroom Herald.

According to Colonel Adele Myburg, provincial police spokesperson, they were called to the scene at about 11am.

The farmer who rents the farm was away for Easter weekend, and a man was staying on the farm to look after it. A woman also went to the farm daily to feed the dogs. When she went to the farm last Monday morning, she noted that the front door of the house was open. She immediately called the police.

The police found the body of the 21-year-old man who looked after the farm in the main bedroom with a gunshot wound to his head. He was allegedly shot in the face, but police could not yet confirm the exact cause of death.

The man’s wrists and ankles were tied up when the body was found.

The suspects tried to open the safe inside the house, but failed. According to Myburg, it seemed that only the victim’s cell phone was stolen.

Police are investigating a case of murder, and no arrests have been made.
