Hijacker arrested and car returned to owner

The vehicle was hijacked on the West Rand, only to be found in the south of Johannesburg.

A 28-year-old suspect was arrested on Saturday, February 11, at about 7pm in Dobsonville, Soweto, after he had allegedly hijacked a vehicle in Tshepisong, on the West Rand, two days earlier, Krugersdorp News reports.

The complainant alleged he was driving around Tshepisong in his white Hyundai LDV at about 4pm that day when he was approached by three male suspects.

One of the suspects, who had a firearm in his possession, pointed it at the complainant and instructed him to get out of his vehicle. The suspects then took the complainant’s vehicle and drove off.

The complainant reported the crime at Kagiso Police Station. After intensive police investigation, the vehicle was recovered two days later.

Police also arrested one of the hijacking suspects, who was later detained at the station.

The remaining two suspects are still at large.

Police are searching for them and are appealing to the community to assist with information that may lead to their arrest.
