Hive of activity expected as grants saga finally heads to ConCourt
On Monday Bathabile Dlamini and Sassa missed the 4pm deadline to answer the ConCourt’s questions on the controversial contract with CPS.

While some people will be there to chant “Bathabile must go”, ANC Women’s League members have made it clear that they will be at the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday to support their leader, Bathabile Dlamini, the embattled social development minister.
A hive of activity is expected when Dlamini gives answers to questions in relation to the ongoing social grants issue.
On Monday, Dlamini and the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) missed the 4pm deadline to answer the ConCourt’s questions in relation to the controversial contract with Cash Paymaster Services (CPS).
Despite the likelihood of Dlamini being harshly criticised over her handling of the matter, the minister will have plenty of support.
Spokesperson for the ANC Women’s League, Thoko Xasa, said the Sassa issue was a government programme and the minister was their leader.
The Democratic Alliance confirmed DA activists would be at the ConCourt with a clear message – Dlamini must go.
“The ANC-led government is putting the lives of 17 million people risk and must be held accountable,” the DA’s Mabine Seabe said.
He said if President Jacob Zuma did not fire Dlamini, it would indicate that he did not care about the people of South Africa.
The EFF was not available for comment at the time of going to press on Tuesday.
Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said a huge police contingent would be deployed.
