Johannesburg Central police arrest man for murder

The suspect allegedly shot and killed two victims between the ages of 20 and 25 years old.


Johannesburg Central Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for murder on the corner of Carr and Mind streets in Fordsburg, North Eastern Tribune reports.

The spokesperson for Johannesburg Central police, Constable Constance Lelimo said the incident happened at Akhalwaya flats on 5 March.

According to Lelimo, the suspect allegedly shot two victims between the ages of 20 and 25.

“The victims were accused of housebreaking that had occurred at the flat,” she said.

“Both the victims were shot in the upper body, and Johannesburg Emergency Management Services staff declared them dead at the scene.”

A crowbar, a screwdriver and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered at the scene.

An investigation is underway and the suspect is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
