The man was found naked on his bed in a room on campus on Sunday, police confirmed.

An employee from the Durban University of Technology (DUT) was declared dead on Sunday by police, after his naked body was found at a residence on campus, reports News24.

The man has reportedly been identified as Dr Euvette Taylor, who was a member of staff at the university, as well as a resident advisor.

Police said Taylor was found naked on his bed, and his car was missing. It was later recovered in Umlazi.

His cause of death has yet to be determined.

Protests and public violence have been prevalent at DUT and other Durban universities for the past week. This resulted in the death of 20-year-old student Mlungisi Madonsela who was shot and killed outside the DUT Steve Biko campus on Tuesday.

A group of students threw rocks and bricks and attempted to storm the university block, after which back-up was called. A scuffle allegedly ensued between Madonsela and a private security guard, and he was shot in the abdomen.

Protest action is expected to continue at tertiary institutions across the country today.
