“When the police approached them, one of the suspects opened fire at the police and a war of bullets ensued.

“It is unfortunate that one of the elderly residents was caught in the crossfire and was injured together with two suspects.

“All the suspects were arrested at the scene.

“They were found in possession of a revolver with five live rounds of ammunition.

“We also found R5 rifles, empty cartridges and a 9mm pistol at the scene,” he says.

Sibuyi says those injured were rushed to Pholosong Hospital where they received medical attention.

“We are investigating a case of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

“The two cars that were used by the suspects was impounded,” he confirmed.
