This is what to do on day 2 of taxi ban in Ladysmith

Commuters need to make sure they are safe when travelling and watch out for roads that may be blocked with rocks by protesters.

As Ladysmith reaches the second day of the taxi ban, residents, commuters and business owners must ensure that they plan ahead, Ladysmith Gazette reports.

Commuters need to make use of buses that have been provided in the affected areas.

Delays are expected due to large numbers of people needing to get to and from work each day.

Commuters in the area will need to leave home early, to make sure they have time to get onto the buses and get to work.

Based on reports from yesterday (Thursday), many people were left stranded because there were no buses in many areas and they could not get to work.

Commuters also need to make sure they are safe when travelling and watch out for roads that may be blocked with rocks by protesters.

Delays are expected, so business owners need to be aware that their staff may be late or not attend work at all, as they could be walking to work or waiting for buses.

Friday is usually a busy day on the roads and there will be added pressure as people struggle to make their way in and out of town.

MEC for Transport, Community Safety & Liaison Mr Mxolisi Kaunda made an appearance at the taxi rank yesterday morning (December 7), walking fearlessly through the area.

He spoke to taxi drivers and commuters.
