Two taxis in head-on collision on the N4

Emergency services personnel were called to the scene after two taxis collided in the early hours of the morning.


The accident happened on Thursday, December 14. According to a statement from the police, the driver travelling alone tried to avoid colliding with another vehicle and lost control of the taxi, Witbank News reports.

The two Toyota Quantum taxis collided on the N4 Highway with one carrying passengers to work while the other contained just the driver.

Facing the oncoming traffic he collided with the other taxi head-on. Twelve passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Emergency personnel had all hands on deck to assist the injured. One of the drivers was trapped inside his taxi.

Unconfirmed reports stated that one of the passengers died in hospital.
