WATCH: Eldorado Park mob justice actions were in vain

A case of attempted kidnapping has not yet been opened, as no one has come forward to provide information for a case to be opened.

Captain Phillemon Khorombi, a spokesperson for Eldorado Park SAPS, explained to the angry community that no progress has yet been made regarding a recent alleged kidnapping attempt in the area, Westside Eldos reports.

To date, no one has come forward or lodged a complaint or a report from the community. The parents of the alleged kidnapping victim have also not yet approached police.

Khorombi said: “It means that this is still an allegation until any member of the community or parents of the child that was allegedly kidnapped. There can be no case opened, hence the suspects cannot be charged.”

“It can be any witness who knows who the child is and his/her parents. Please come forward so a case can be opened.

“To the parents of the alleged victim, if the child is underage, it would mean that you as his/her parents would have to speak on behalf of the child.

Khorombi added: “As the police, we received a complaint that people are beating up unknown people, next to Eldorado Park Primary School. When our members received, it was evident that the people were beating up the victims of assault.

“It was not an easy task for our members to perform the rescue, but eventually, they did. The SAPS took the victims of assault to the hospital after they were severely beaten.”

He concluded: “We are still appealing to the members of the community to come forward with information regarding the alleged kidnapping. We still don’t have that information or the complainant.

“Anyone with that information can come to the station and see the station commander and give the full information. The person will be interviewed by the station commander, Brigadier Pieter Van Dyk or any senior officer that will act in his capacity. This case has attracted all media and concerned parties.”
