New app to help farmers launched at Nampo

It will allow easy access to a variety of information to help farmers solve their day-to-day problems, and provide support and development.

Agricultural information will be at the fingertips of farmers across the country after the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) yesterday at Nampo Harvest Day launched a cellphone application, which promises to take farming into the future.

ARC’s Dr Yolisa Pakela-Jezile, said: “Easy access to agricultural solutions is now available to farmers, commercial and smallholders, on the new ARC Hub app, by just downloading, creating a relevant profile, and searching for answers relevant to the user, without going through many different websites or libraries.”

The council promises that the app will allow easier access to a variety of information that could help farmers solve their day-to-day problems and provide ongoing support and development.

“The ARC affirms its commitment to invest its knowledge and expertise to provide solutions to challenges facing farmers,” ARC spokesperson Mpho Ramosili said.

Ramosili said ARC continued to be committed to provide farmers with practical solutions and to share research insights that would enhance the production of good quality produce .

The ARC Info Hub would improve the lives of South African farmers, both commercial and smallholders, as it provided a one-stop agricultural solution to their daily farming problems, added Ramosili.

The ARC Hub App is available on Google Play Store through your mobile and desktop browser, and will be available on Apple App Store in the next couple of weeks.
