The intelligence report allegedly used by President Jacob Zuma to fire former finance minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas, has not reached the inspector-general of intelligence.
It emerged in the media that the report that made headlines after Gordhan’s sacking in March earlier this year would be scrutinised by the inspector-general of intelligence, Dr Isaac Dintwe, but EWN reports the copy of the report has not reached his office.
According to EWN, Dintwe said he was hoping the court bid launched by the Democratic Alliance (DA) to force the president to release the report would assist him to finally get his hands on the copy of the report.
However, the DA’s David Maynier said it was the duty of Dintwe to track down the report.
He is the one who laid a complaint with Dintwe’s office after senior ANC leaders alleged the president presented an intelligent report as the basis to fire Gordhan and Jonas.
“It is cause for concern that the inspector-general of intelligence appears to be relying on a court case to surface the intelligence report which is vital to his investigation.
“That is why I will be writing to him to clarify what steps he has taken or is going to take in order to independently gain access to the intelligence report,” Maynier told EWN.
