Authorities asked occupants to vacate the Vaalgate Shopping Centre building in Vanderbijlpark on Wednesday afternoon, reports the Sedibeng Ster.
This follows reports of an ongoing hostage situation at the Emfuleni Local Municipality offices.
According to reports, two shots were fired, but no one was injured. Police are on the scene.
