WATCH: Remix of Okmalumkoolkat’s Gqi (with an ending you can’t miss)

The choir instructor literally takes a 'gqi' towards the end of the video.

Okmalumkoolkat’s Gqi is arguably one of the most popular songs for 2017, so popular that a group of learners made their own version of the song.

The song goes:

Nam’Angazi nje, ngizwe ngento nje ithi Gqi (I also don’t know, I heard something saying, gqi!)

Wash’umdanso, sashisgubhu (the dance was on fire, so was the bottle).

Nam’angazi nje, ngizwe ngento nje ithi Gqi (I also don’t know, I heard something saying, gqi)

Wash’umdanso, sashisgubhu (the dance was on fire, so was the bottle)

Baleka Malum, basile laba (run away Malum’, these people are envious)

Bazok’thathela Malum, umdanso wakho, malum (they’ll take your dance away, Malum’)

People interpret Gqi in many ways. To some, ‘gqi’ means to appear, finish, take a fall or complete. In this instance, we take it to mean ‘to fall’ because the choir instructor literally does a ‘gqi’ as if to emphasise the song’s impact.
