Taxi driver shot in the head

It is alleged the driver had two men with in the taxi before he was murdered.


Mariannhill police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating a case of murder after a taxi driver, 23, was shot and killed while driving on Milky Way Road in Mariannhill, yesterday, at about 7pm, Highway Mail reports.

According to Captain Nqobile Gwala, media spokesperson for KZN police, it is alleged that two men were in a taxi that was driven by the deceased to Dassenhoek.

“They allegedly shot him in the head, and he was declared dead at the scene. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage. The police are searching for the suspects,” said Gwala.

Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care said paramedics attended the scene last night, but they found the deceased driver, and no other passengers in the vehicle at the time.

It is believed the taxi driver veered off the road and crashed his vehicle into a home on Milky Way Road.
