Resident shot in attempted hijacking
Hijackers shoot and injure driver in an attempted hijacking off Sibaya Drive.

A CHINESE national was shot in an attempted hijacking on Sibaya Drive on 1 December. According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, the man was shot through the driver’s window and sustained injuries to his arm and abdomen.
“A witness saw two men approach the car from the right and left. One of the suspects was armed and leveled the gun at the driver and fired through the window. We suspect they men were disturbed as another car approached. A case of attempted murder has been opened and no arrests have yet been made,” he said.
This is the second incident on Sibaya Drive after another man was hijacked as he approached the top of the off-ramp at the beginning of last month.
“The driver of the vehicle was behind a taxi as they approached the top of the off-ramp. The taxi then stopped at the crest of the hill and three men armed with a firearm jumped out of the taxi and pulled the owner out.
”The men drove off with the stolen vehicle as did the taxi who was an accomplice to the hijack,” he said.
