Armed gang ransack homes minutes apart

It's believed the armed gang have been involved in a number of incidents in the Durban North area.

A SILVER Mercedes Benz with armed men at the wheel terrorised several families this weekend and were involved in at least three housebreak-ins just minutes apart.

The first incident occurred at Earlswood Place on Sunday at about 1.15pm, in Briardene. The suspects derailed the driveway gate before ransacking the house. The men were reportedly armed with assault rifles (R5 rifles or AK47s).

There were also housebreak-ins at Macushla Drive and Inverness Crescent as well as an attempted housebreak-in at St Andrews Drive. According to the CPF, the silver Mercedes Benz was seen at the latter two incidents.

CCTV footage showed the gang derailing the gate at the St Andrews Drive home. The gang was however disturbed by a Blue Security patrol vehicle. The brazen robbers pointed a firearm at the security officer before driving off.

It’s believed the armed gang are the same men who hijacked two vehicles in the space of minutes on Cambridge Drive and an uMgeni Park home last month.
