Political heavyweight joins Sunningdale voting queue

Mazibuko said she was impressed with the high turnout at Sunningdale Pre-Primary School.

DA PARLIAMENTARY leader Lindiwe Mazibuko was the toast of Sunningdale this morning when she made her mark at the Sunningdale Pre- Primary School. Declining an invitation by the IEC’s presiding officer at the poll station to jump the queue, Mazibuko had more than her fair share of admirers in the winding queue.

“I appreciate the presiding officers offer but I would rather wait in the queue” she said. Mazibuko accompanied by her mother June and DA provincial leader Sizwe Mchunu, was swamped by residents who wanted their selfie moment with the Kindlewood Estate resident.  The media contingent at the station also sought out the parliamentary leader’s views on the election.

Mazibuko said she was impressed with the turnout and said she was blown away by the support. “It has been a fantastic turnout and it’s great to see so many people willing to make their mark.” She added her vote was no secret. “I’m voting the DA”

More than 200 residents lined the queue outside the station, some with a novel and deckchair and some playing on Candy Crush on their iPhones.
