Attempted complex robbery foiled by alert security guard

It is unknown at this stage whether the men were trying to commit a house robbery or a hijacking at the Buttery Road complex.

TWO men attempting to gain entry into an uMgeni Park complex this morning after a security guard patrolling the road spotted the intruders. The patrol officer from Marshall Security saw two men interfering with the electric gate of the complex. The incident occurred outside Larrisa Mews on Buttery Road.

The men armed with a handgun attempted to restrain the officer but he managed to escape and call for back-up. The suspects panicked and drove off empty handed in an unknown white up market vehicle.

According to Tyron Powell, from Marshall Security, it is unknown at this stage whether the men were trying to commit a house robbery or a hijacking.

“The suspects had managed to remove the cover of the electric gate and had set it up on manual to gain access,” Powell said.

According to Greenwood Park CPF Facebook Page one of the suspects was dressed in blue jeans and green jacket. These suspects are armed and are operating in the Durban North, La Lucia, uMhlanga and northern areas.
