Hard work pays off for Danville matrics

Mbalenhle Ngcobo and Teboko Nkosi, who received six and seven distinctions respectively in their matric year, were each awarded a full Allan Gray Scholarship.

TWO Danville Park Girls’ High School pupils, Mbalenhle Ngcobo and Teboko Nkosi, were recipients of the prestigious Allan Gray Scholarship.

Ngcobo and Nkosi, who received six and seven distinctions respectively in their matric year, were elated when they heard the news. “We were anxiously waiting, and have been hoping and praying that we got it. But we were still surprised and extremely happy,” said Ngobo.

Nkosi has decided to use the scholarship funds to pursue a degree in geology, while Ngcobo said she will be working towards a BCom degree in accounting. “It is rewarding to see that the hard work that we have done though out the year has been worthwhile. It is definitely something that we have worked for,” said Nkosi.

The studious duo both maintained that the ‘secret’ to their success is work from the beginning of the year. “Don’t procrastinate and you must do you homework,” added Nkosi.

The Allan Gray Scholarship’s aim is to develop the potential of young entrepreneurs. The Scholarship covers full tuition and boarding fees. In addition, recipients will receive allowances to subsidise travel, stationery, prescribed books, toiletries, school uniforms, civilian clothing, pocket money and extra-murals.
