Harlem Globetrotters cancel SA tour

Shock as nationwide tour cancelled.

THE Harlem Globetrotters tour to South Africa has been cancelled. The New Zealand-based promoter, On The Road Events, said it regretted to announce that ‘due to unforeseen circumstances the tour has been cancelled’.

The US-based exhibition basketball squad is one of the world’s most loved sports teams, bringing a unique blend of athleticism and theatre to the centre court. They were to make their first appearance in the country for the first time in 20 years.

In a press release issued earlier today, publicists for the tour said the Globetrotters were looking forward to performing in South African soon.

“The Globetrotters, who were scheduled to perform in South Africa in July, are looking forward to performing in South Africa as soon as revised dates have been set. Customers who have already purchased tickets will be refunded in full by Computicket. Visit www.computicket.com for information on refunds,” it said.
