By-elections posters fuel dumping fury

ANC by-election posters were found dumped along Cowrie Terrace in La Lucia yesterday.

THE issue of illegal dumping has once again hit the spotlight and this time is involves election posters. Yesterday, a local resident stumbled across the remnants of some 30 dumped by-election posters of former PR councillor, Constantina Tsepouras. They were found along a servitude off Forest Drive in La Lucia.

The resident alerted local ward councillor, Shaun Ryley, who was Tsepouras’s opponent in the recent by-elections.

“I have raised this with the advertising department as well as Durban Solid Waste so that this matter can be sorted out. It should not be too difficult to determine who is responsible for these boards as an application would have been made to the city for their erection for the by-election last year. It is clear that these boards were being stored before they were dumped. This should prove to be one of the easier cases in finding a culprit responsible for illegal dumping after the fact,” he said.

Tsepouras was not able to comment at the time of publication.
