‘Gate-crashing’ gang strikes in Glenashley

Two Glenashley homes robbed just six minutes apart.

HOUSEBREAKERS ‘gate-crashed’ two Glenashley properties within minutes of each other fleeing with high-end electronic appliances, jewellery and cash on Wednesday. According to Blue Security’s operations manager, Brian Jackson, the gang of housebreakers forced open the driveway gate and front door of a house in Lynne Avenue at 12.51pm and another property was hit in Adrienne Place just six minutes later.

“The housebreakers fled the first property with two flat-screen televisions and a computer. They ransacked a bedroom in the second home before fleeing with a television, a hi-fi, a laptop and a safe containing jewellery, cash and other items. It is not clear whether the incidents were committed by an organised syndicate but criminals are obviously presently active in the suburb and we urge residents to be on high alert,” he said.

Jackson advised residents to remember to activate their alarm systems and to consider installing alarmed electric fences and outdoor beams for an early warning of the presence of intruders.

“An early warning system buys time for a family to get to safety by locking themselves in a ‘safe room’ pre-equipped with a cellphone and a spare panic remote, while helping to prevent a loss of property as it gives criminals less time on site and alerts the security company early to their presence,” he said.
