Teenager nabbed for Durban North thefts

The 17-year-old was found in possession of a stolen cellphone.

A TEENAGER who has admitted to several thefts in the Durban North area has been arrested. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen the 17-year-old was found in possession of a stolen cellphone.

“We received a complaint from a client for a male suspect who had allegedly jumped over the wall and stolen property from a residence in Gillford Place, shortly after 1pm today.

“On further investigation it was established that the same man had stolen a cellphone from a gardener at a property in Hoylake Drive,” he said.

According to van Reenen when the suspect was spotted by patrol officers he attempted to flee but after a brief foot chase he was caught and arrested on Blackburn Road.

“He confessed to various crimes within the area and agreed to show our officers where he had been operating.

“The man was successfully linked to crimes involving fence hopping and theft from residential properties as well as theft of a cell phone within the area,” he said.
