Man arrested after robbery at Kensington Square

The man was subdued by security guards as he tried to make his getaway.

A MAN was arrested on Monday afternoon after a robbery at Kensington Square on Adelaide Thambo (Kensington) Drive. According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred at about 5.20pm and the suspect was found in possession of various items taken in the robbery.

“A woman who was visiting the massage parlour said she had gone into the public toilet when the door was kicked open by the suspect. He put his arms around her neck and snatched a necklace she was wearing, pulled off her ring and then grabbed her phone. He accosted her and she screamed for help. He was pursued and chased down by mall security and was eventually stopped at Chelsea Drive,” he said.
