Two injured in Glenashley accident

One of the vehicles crashed into a property following the impact, while the second vehicle overturned.

TWO people were injured in an accident after a taxi and a vehicle collided on Newport Avenue at about 11am on Monday morning. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen two passengers were injured in the accident at the intersection of Marion Avenue and Newport.

One of the vehicles overturned in the collision while the impact also sent the taxi crashing into a wall.

“The female passengers aged 59 and 21 years old, sustained minor injuries. We were alerted to the incident by members of the public and the assistance of Netcare 911 emergency paramedics was immediately requested by our emergency contact centre. Both of the women were taken to a nearby hospital by a local ambulance service. The cause of the collision is unclear,” he said.

It is believed with the current re-tarring of the road, the lines of the road have not been painted.

This followed an accident on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) this morning which left 30 people injured.
