WATCH: Rain wreaks havoc in Durban North

Various reports of flooding and collapsing walls have been streaming in this afternoon. 

THE current persistent rain is wreaking havoc in Durban North and surrounding areas. With reports of  flooding, collapsed walls as well as lifting manhole covers, authorities have urged motorists to take extra precautions.
Bronwyn Samuels of the Clarendon Neighbourhood Watch, has particularly urged motorists to avoid Chris Hani (North Coast) Road near the Red Hill Post Office. One vehicle is already submerged in the flooding water on Effingham Road
Kyle van Reenen, of Marshall Security said the vehicle had become submerged in a sink hole. He said driver was not injured and that the fire department was on route to assist. Reports are also coming through of massive flooding on Rinaldo Road where cars have broken down all along the busy road. Van Reenen also reported massive flooding at the valve station behind Delville Road.

Reports have also flooded in of massive puddles on Newport Avenue in Glenashley.
uMhlanga ward councillor Heinz de Boer said that the heavy rain was lifting manhole covers all over the Durban North area. Property walls have also collapsed on sveral Durban North properties.
