Robbers hold man for 10 hours

The victim's bank card and pin number were forcibly taken from him.

A COMMUTE home turned into a nightmare as a man was hijacked and abducted at the N2 off-ramp near KwaMashu off-ramp on Monday night at 7.30pm.

While the victim was caught in a traffic jam, two men reportedly climbed into his vehicle. One of the men produced a knife and held it to his throat, said W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the Greenwood Park SAPS.

The thieving duo was then joined by a third man, who took control of the Toyota Tazz, after forcing the victim into the back seat of the car.

“As the suspects drove around in the vehicle the victim was forced to sit on the floor in the back of the vehicle. The perpetrators searched the victim’s car and found his wallet. They then demanded the pin code of one of his bank cards. After the suspects managed to withdraw R1 000 from the victim’s bank account, they continued to drive around with the victim who was still subdued in the back,” said Audh.

The hijackers finally released the victim at 5.30am the next day as they fled on foot. According to Audh, they forced him to lie on the floor as they made their escape.

The suspects remain at large.
