Police still investigating uMhlanga assault case

No arrests have been made as yet in the Umhlanga Rocks Drive assault case.

DURBAN North Police have reacted to claims about the squashing of assault charges pertaining to a violent assault on Umhlanga Rocks Drive.  On Monday this week a video emerged showing the brutal assault of an Uber driver by two men believed to be bodyguards linked to a prominent La Lucia businessman, Sbu Mpisane.

Spokesman for the station, Capt Raymond Deokaran, has urged the public to be patient and let the police do their work.

“A case of common assault has been opened and we are still investigating the case. There have been claims that the case will be swept under the carpet but it is not true. I urge the public to be patient while we conduct our investigations,” he said.

No arrests have been made as yet.
