Thieves strip stolen car from Glenashley

The thieves abandoned the vehicle, which was fitted with a tracking device, next to a home in Ntuzuma.

PROFESSIONAL car thieves stripped a Polo down to its skeleton in just a few hours after stealing it from Glenashley. Incredibly, the thieves left all the parts of the vandalised vehicle next to it. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security, the Polo was a hired vehicle.

Thieves removed tyres, engine parts, the bumper (front and back), car seats, and even the four tyres of the vehicle.

“The vehicle was stolen last night in Maryland Avenue. The vehicle, a white Volkswagen Polo, was on hire from a car rental agency and was fitted with a satellite tracking device monitored by CarTrack. A tracking signal was found in the Ntuzuma area and Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, ground crews from the tracking company and air support we found the vehicle abandoned and stripped of its parts.

“Some of the parts were found lying next to it. The bumper, seats, radio as well as its wheels. The scene was handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and processing,” he said.

In August this year, thieves used the same modus operandi, after stealing a vehicle from Blue Lagoon. The car was stripped and left next to a house in KwaMashu.
