Mamba rescued from Greenwood Park home
From December until the end of February, mamba activity is at its peak, warns snake expert.
SUNNINGDALE snake man, Jason Arnold has warned residents to be on the lookout for snakes which are on the move. From the beginning of December to the end of February, there is no rest for the local rescuer.
The 39-year-old said he has received a number of call-outs for black mambas, considered to be one of Africa’s most dangerous and feared species. Arnold recently captured a mamba measuring 2 metres from a home in Greenwood Park (Orange Grove Drive).
What is more he has rescued seven mambas in the last three weeks. His recent rescues also includes a pregnant Mozambique spitting cobra captured in uMhlanga near the reserve.

Last month, Arnold rescued a large black mamba from an Avoca home. The snake has sought refuge under one of the couches. Watch the video below.

“From now until the end of February, mamba activity is at its peak. I urge residents to be a little more aware during this time of year, especially when going into places like cluttered garden sheds/storerooms, lifting up pool pump covers or clearing clutter around the home or garden.”
