Man arrested for Cornubia murder

The victim's body was found in a dam.

VERULAM police arrested a suspect in connection with a murder in Cornubia. According to provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, the unknown victim’s body was found in a dam in Cornubia on Friday morning.

“On Friday, police found the body of an unknown man clad in a pair of blue jeans and a white and navy t-shirt in a dam in Cornubia. SAPS Search and Rescue members retrieved the body after he was discovered by young boys who were cutting sugarcane near the dam.

“The deceased had been assaulted and his body had stab wounds. A case of murder was opened at the Verulam police station for investigation. The motive of the killing is subject to an on-going investigation,” she said.

The suspect is due to appear in court later today.
