Briardene high speed chase ends in arrest

The suspect attempted to pay for fuel using a fraudulent credit card.

ONE man was arrested following a high speed chase with security officials in the Briardene area.

On Wednesday night Marshall Security responded to a panic alert from a service station on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road), after the driver of a Toyota Hilux attempted to pay for fuel using a fraudulent credit card.

“On arrival of armed reaction officers, the driver fled onto Chris Hani Road and a high-speed chase ensued onto Seacow Lake Road, with the driver losing control and colliding with a tree,” said Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen.

The male driver was arrested on scene.

“Further investigation revealed the Toyota was stolen in Mpumalanga last month. The suspect and vehicle were secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing,” added van Reenen.
