A SHOT was fired as armed suspects targeted an ATM outside the First National Bank (FNB) on Chris Hani Road yesterday at about 11:30am. FNB confirmed that a customer was accosted and robbed.
“FNB can confirm that a customer was accosted and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money outside the FNB Briardene branch in Durban. There were no injuries reported in the incident. The matter has been reported to the police and the bank is cooperating with the South African Police Service. In light of the police investigation currently underway, the bank is unable to provide further comment,” said CEO of FNB Points of Presence Lee-Anne van Zyl.

Kyle Van Reenen of Marshall Security said the number of suspects involved in the robbery is unknown at this stage.
“A single shot was fired by the suspects but no injuries were reported,” he said.
