Votes are in- Bollman welcomed as new councillor for ward 35

Ward 35 had the largest turnout for a by election.

NICOLE Bollman of the Democratic Alliance will take the reigns as the new ward councillor for ward 35, after winning the by election with an 81 per cent lead. The voting stations closed at 9pm last night and the IEC count was completed by midnight.

Ward 35 includes uMhlanga, Gateway, Prestondale, Somerset Park, La Lucia, Glenashley and parts of Virginia and Blackburn Village.

“I am very excited and very appreciative to the community. I want to especially thank the residents for taking the time to vote, people were still pouring in as late as 9pm to cast their votes. Of the various wards, ward 35 had the largest turnout for a by election,” said Bollman.

The new councillor hopes to make strides to improve services in the area.

“Across the board, service delivery and infrastructure issues have been brought to light, so I want to tackle that first. I will need to establish what has been done so far and then work from there,” she said.
