Touting for Christmas gifts by DSW staff not allowed

The eThekwini Municipality has also warned residents to be wary of impostors posing as municipal workers to solicit gifts.

ETHEKWINI Municipality’s Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit (DSW) staff will be working throughout the festive season including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

While it is the season of giving, DSW staff are strictly prohibited from touting for gifts, including money, from residents said the City spokesperson, Mandla Nsele.

“Residents are advised to be wary of impostors posing as municipal workers to solicit gifts. DSW’s operational services will continue as normal during the festive season including the public holidays. The public are urged to put out their refuse as early as possible to assist in this regard.

“The DSW offices will be closed on 16, 25 and 26 December 2019 and 1 January 2020. However refuse collection will continue throughout the festive season, including the public holidays. For enquiries contact the DSW help line on 031 311 8804,” he said.
