Tafta residents enjoy a Christmas outing
The Christmas party included live music, a meal and gifts.
CHRISTMAS came early for residents of The Association of the Aged’s (Tafta) John Conradie House as they celebrated in style at the uMhlanga Ski Boat Club (USBC) on Wednesday, 4 December.
The Christmas party included live music, a meal and gifts said Rene Pheasant of USBC.
“We have been doing charity events for 20 years. We have been hosting Tafta residents for the last nine years. The first year we hosted at John Conradie house, but then we found out that all the residents want to do was just to be able to get out for the day and be entertained. So we bring them out here, give them drinks, spot prizes, snacks, lunch and they go home with goodie bags valued at R500. It’s a way for us to give back to society,” she said.

“Today has been a big success. We had a lot of sponsorships from people all over who sponsored gifts, food and juices. There are also companies that help us out,” added Liz Van Huysteen from USBC.
Tafta resident, Charmaine Bailey said she has attended the event for the last three years in a row.
“Every year, it’s been so wonderful-the food, entertainment and people. Our hostesses are so friendly and accommodating. They go out of their way to make it pleasant and memorable. It’s very uplifting for us,” she said.
Another resident, Hilda Sewell said the party was a blessing to her.

“It was awesome to be here for the day. We had a blessed day. Whenever we attend these events, we feel renewed when we get home,” she said.
Francois Vilbert-Rigaud expressed his gratitude for the party.
“I want to thank all those who put hard work into this day, we appreciate it more than we can say,” he said.
The Christmas party kept Tafta residents entertained from 10am until 3pm.
