Durban North Library introduces Read For Rewards

The library's opening hours have returned to normal.

BOOKWORMS will be excited to know that the Durban North Library has reverted to its normal operating hours and introduced an exciting loyalty rewards programme, Read For Rewards.

The library’s head librarian, Veni Reddy said the number of people who visited the library has dwindled since the Covid-19 pandemic and, now that the library’s operating hours are back to normal, she hopes to see more members come in to borrow books.

“Due the impact of Covid-19, statistics of reading seemed to depreciate as libraries were required to close.

Now, with our hours back to normal and the new loyalty programme, we’re hoping to see old and new members come and borrow books again at the library,” said Reddy.

With the Read For Rewards programme, the more books a member reads, the greater their chances are to win wonderful prizes.
“Members will earn loyalty points and will stand a chance to win some fantastic prizes. I encourage our members to register for the programme and start reading. There are a few terms and conditions that we will explain to members when they come in to register,” said Reddy.

“We want to attract old and new members with the aim of motivating all eThekwini citizens to read and use our libraries again. We remain vigilant as we try to fully restore services, with safety remaining our priority, ” she added.

Opening hours
Monday to Friday: 9:00 to 16:30.
Saturday: 8:30 to 12:30.
