Suspects linked to Avoca robbery arrested
Law enforcement recovered several items believed to have been stolen, including a gas pistol believed to be used in the commission of the crimes.
TWO men, allegedly linked to an armed robbery in Avoca, were arrested on Friday afternoon (November 15) by members of KwaMashu SAPS Trio Crimes Unit and Marshall Security Special Operations Team.
The suspects were also linked to a robbery in the Montclair area and were seen fleeing the scene in a Toyota Etios.
The duo had reportedly robbed workers on the roadside of two grass-cutting machines before fleeing the scene.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell confirmed that the suspects had fled the scene and driven to KwaMashu.
“While our members were patrolling on the M25 near Malandela Road, they spotted the vehicle with grass-cutting machines visibly sticking out of its window. They intercepted the vehicle at the intersection of Malandela Road and the M25, successfully apprehending two suspects together with the assistance of the KwaMashu SAPS Trio Crimes Unit.
“Upon searching the vehicle and suspects, a gas pistol in the possession of one suspect was recovered. Police also recovered two grass-cutting machines stolen in the Montclair robbery and numerous cellphones, bags and personal documents belonging to other victims,” he said.

Powell added that investigations also revealed that two of the cellphones recovered belonged to women who had been robbed in Montclair earlier that same day.
“The suspects were also linked to a robbery on Avoca Road where a man was robbed of his cellphone and wallet. The items were also recovered in the Etios. The suspects, stolen items and vehicle were transported to KwaMashu SAPS for further investigation. Police suspect the individuals may be linked to a series of armed robberies across the greater Durban area. Investigations are ongoing,” he said.
