Cellphone store robbed at La Lucia Mall

No one was injured in the incident confirmed the mall and security.

STAFF members at a cellphone shop were left traumatised on Friday afternoon (April 12) after armed men targeted their store at La Lucia Mall.

This was the second business robbery where suspects targeted a cellphone store after an incident at Kensington Square on Wednesday which saw one person shot and injured.

It is believed that the suspects held up staff members and made off with several items from the store.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell said they had responded to the scene.

“Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries. However, the staff members are understandably shaken by the traumatic experience. The South African Police Service (SAPS) were also present at the scene,” he said.

In a statement, La Lucia Mall confirmed that the robbery had occurred.

“La Lucia Mall can confirm that no shots were fired, nor were there any injuries relating to a robbery at one of the mall’s cellular outlets this afternoon. We would like to reassure our valued customers that La Lucia Mall remains committed to providing a safe shopping experience. We appreciate the support of our community and will continue to work closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our shoppers remains our top priority,” they said in a statement.
