City removes billboard on M41 near uMhlanga

The eThekwini Municipality had applied to the High Court to remove two billboards in and around Durban.

THE eThekwini Municipality has removed a billboard on the M41 near uMhlanga on Wednesday morning.

This comes after the City applied to the High Court after notices to remove the signage were ignored.

The removal follows a similar incident where a billboard facing the N3 near the Pavilion was also taken down by the eThekwini Municipality.

“The City applied to the High Court after notices to remove the signage were ignored. This sends a strong message that the City will not tolerate the erection of illegal signage and billboards. Proper applications must be made, via the Development Management Department, to ensure that the structure is secure and that the safety of the public is prioritised,” the City said in a statement.

The City plan to remove a third billboard in Cornubia on Friday morning.
