Join Durban North CPF youth desk, urges SAPS
One of the aims of the youth desk is getting the next generation actively involved in joining the fight against crime.
THE Durban North SAPS is urging young people to join the Durban North Community Policing Forum (CPF) Youth Desk.
The youth desk, which was rekindled and relaunched in 2018, was established as a sub-forum for the youth within the CPF.
The primary aim of the youth desk is getting the next generation actively involved in joining the fight against crime and violence as well as to build a culture of learning, tolerance and respect for all.

Durban North SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Nonhlanhla Shozi, said they hoped to fill a few positions within the CPF Youth Desk and gain new members.
“Some of our members have relocated while others are furthering theirs studies and we are hoping to have this structure up and running again. We still have members that are functional but we don’t have an existing committee. We are appealing to the youth in our community to join in, we need young blood to come and drive awareness and help us fight crime. This body works together with the station and the CPF. We are looking for people willing to make a change in the community and who are passionate about fighting crime,” she said.
“Besides creating awareness of social issues within the community we also want to introduce the youth to the police and bridge that gap of understanding. Each member of the youth desk has their own role and they will work closely with the social crime prevention unit of the police station,” Shozi said.
