Durban North SAPS invites residents to community imbizo

The community engagement is a way for residents to address service delivery issues and have open dialogues between police and the residents in the area.

THE Durban North SAPS will host its next community crime imbizo on Thursday, January 23 at the Umhlanga Ski Boat Club (75 Twilight Drive) at 10:00.

The meetings, which will be held quarterly, aim to foster positive relations between the local community and the SAPS.

The community engagement is open to everyone.

Senior management of the Durban North station, including the station commander as well as the detective commander and Visible Policing (Vispol) commander, will be present.

Police will also discuss crime patterns, address service delivery issues and open the floor to the community for complaints or suggestions.

Spokesperson for the police station, Sergeant Nonhlanhla Shozi, said she was grateful for the opportunity to strengthen ties with the community.

“In November last year we held our first imbizo with the community which was a success. We are hoping the residents can come to support the meeting. It is important for us as a station to give residents the opportunity to raise their grievances and share suggestions on how we can improve service delivery in the area. It is also a way to open dialogues between the community and the station as well as strengthen our ties,” she said.
