Pedestrian dies following accident in Durban North

The man died at the scene after sustaining a head injury.

A PEDESTRIAN died on Adelaide Tambo Drive in Durban North yesterday evening.

A call for assistance came from a local community group stating that there had been a pedestrian and vehicle accident.

“Ensure Security’s Tactical Intervention unit responded to the scene and on arrival found a 35-year-old male lying on the sidewalk. Further assessment revealed the man to have sustained a head injury,” said Ensure spokesperson Kyle van Reenan.

The man was treated and stabilised by Netcare 911 paramedics who were called to the scene, using several advanced life support intervention methods.

“Sadly, the man’s condition deteriorated and he died on the scene. Thank you to an off-duty doctor who stopped to assist, as well as Marshall Security’s Special Operations team,” said Van Reenen.

The cause of the collision will be investigated by the SAPS.
