Amashova announce change of date
Durban's oldest road cycle race will now take place in July.
THE organisers of the 2025 edition of the Amashova National Classic have announced that the iconic event – normally held in October – would be held on a new day.
In a statement, Amashova indicated, “We are delighted to announce that the event date has changed to July 20. We love the feedback from participants and we can definitely say we heard you. After a successful but very wet race last year, we have decided to move the Amashova National Classic. We will be 95% assured of no rain. Durban has the best weather in the country at this time of the year and we cannot wait to welcome all the cyclists.

“This change means that we will start all four distances later than usual to accommodate the later sunrise. The 132km from Nelson Mandela Capture Site at 7:30, the 106km from Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 8:00, the 65km Half Challenge from Cato Ridge at 6:30, and the 40km Family Fun Ride from Hillcrest at 6:30.”
Online entries are open and the race entry fees will open at last year’s early bird prices and remain the same until the entries close.
