Cansa supporters walk for awareness in Durban North

More than 200 people participated in the fundraising event.

TO commemorate World Cancer Day, which was observed on February 4, Cansa Durban with Pick n Pay Hyper By The Sea in Durban North hosted the first Cansa Run/Walk in Durban North last Saturday (February 1).

The summer heat did not deter supporters as 228 of them attended to walk towards a cancer-free society.

The morning kicked off with a warm-up to the Casper Slide and registration before Natasha Brown, KZN sustainability co-ordinator for Cansa Durban, led a short programme about Cansa and what supporting events such as this meant to the organisation.

“The theme for World Cancer Day is United By Unique. Every experience with cancer is unique and requires the work of all to create a world where we look beyond the disease and see the person before we see the patient,” she said.

For more information on Cansa or to volunteer, contact Brown on 081 477 8947 or email nbrown@cansa.org.za.
