Wanted suspect shot and killed on M4 near uMhlanga
The suspect was allegedly linked to cash-in-transit (CIT) robberies.

A WANTED suspect was fatally wounded in a shootout with Durban North police on the M4 near uMhlanga on Thursday afternoon (February 13).
The station’s Rapid Response Team were allegedly following up on information when the shootout occurred.
The suspect was allegedly linked to cash-in-transit (CIT) robberies, confirmed provincial SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda.

“Police received information that the suspect was a passenger in a vehicle which was driving on the M4 southbound and at the Lighthouse Road off-ramp, the vehicle was intercepted. The suspect got out of the vehicle and started shooting at the police and a shootout ensued. The suspect was shot and fatally wounded during the shootout. No police officer was injured during the shootout,” he said.
It is unclear if the suspect was linked to the recent CIT on the N2 where 11 people were shot and injured by the gang.
A suspect was fatally wounded in a shootout later that same day on Che Guevara Road (old Moore Road).
