One killed, three critical following Chris Hani Road crash
A total of 18 patients were treated by paramedics in the horror crash.
A WOMAN in her 40s has been killed following a horror fatal crash on the corner of Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) and Queen Nandi Drive.
The accident occurred between a bakkie and fully laden taxi just after 20:00 on Saturday.
According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, several passengers from the taxi had been ejected from the vehicle in the collision.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find a taxi and a bakkie had collided at the junction. Some of the patients had been ejected at the point of impact. Multiple casualties were found around the badly damaged vehicles.
“One person in the bakkie, a female believed to be in her 40s, was entrapped in the wreckage and on assessment paramedics found that she had sustained fatal injuries There was nothing paramedics could do for her and she was declared deceased on the scene. The Ethekweni Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to cut her free from the wreckage,” he said.
Jamieson confirmed three other people had sustained critical injuries.

“Approximately 18 others had sustained moderate injuries. Once stabilised on the scene all of the casualties were transported to various Durban Hospitals.
“At this stage the events leading up to the crash are unknown, however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further,” he said.
