Man sentenced to five years for Redhill and Avoca burglaries

The burglaries took place last year on Chris Hani Road and Northgate Place.

MARSHALL Security has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of Siyabonga Sikhosana who was sentenced to five years direct imprisonment for two business burglaries in Redhill and Avoca.

Sikhosana was arrested in December after stealing copper pipes from a business property on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road).

He had attempted to evade arrest by climbing onto the roof but was later arrested.

Investigations revealed he was also linked to a burglary on Northgate Place in Redhill.

“It’s a significant win for justice and community safety and we commend the dedicated efforts of our Special Operations Team, Greenwood Park police and detective Sergeant Mkhize as well as the prosecutor who ensured that justice was served,” said Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell.

This is the second positive conviction at the station following the three-and-a-half-year sentence handed down to Simphiwe Gwala for water meter thefts in February.
