Durban North CPF Public Relations Officer Darryl Oliver welcomed the operation and explained the dangers of drunk driving.
“Drunk driving is a criminal offence and carries a criminal sentence of imprisonment and / or a fine, as well as possible suspension of your driver’s licence if convicted, along with the criminal record. You are not only a danger to yourself, but a danger to your passengers and other road users when you drive under the influence,” he said.
“What was concerning was the one arrest made that night, was the person who blew 1.17, almost five times over the legal limit of 0.24. But even more concerning was that this person had a full vehicle with family members, both adults and children in the car.”
